Lord you are, the 911 of my heart

The girls have been singing this song forever, thanks to VBS, Sunday AMs and Thursday AMs.  My girls are so cute singing it (and doing the ASL) :)

We are a new creation...

We got to see the coolest thing this morning.  Walking into our church, alongside the path, there are trees and bushes.  Every once and a while we'll see a butterfly fluttering by.  The kids love watching and following it.  A few weeks ago Jared and the girls were checking out some of the bushes along the path.  They found a caterpillar on a branch.  I didn't think anything of it...until today.  For some reason today, we stopped to look at the bushes' branches and saw these guys!
Wow!  I think we saw at least 6 chrysalises on several of the bushes.  Then, while we were looking around, we saw LOTS of these little guys.
So cool!  These caterpillars were munching away.  I told the girls it's just like the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."  I also told the kids that I think these are Monarch Caterpillars.  Well, upon coming home and using my Google-fu skills, they ARE Monarchs.  Again, SO cool!

Yes, the kids (and I :) ) were very excited seeing these guys.  We can't wait to go back to church and see how the chrysalises are doing or see if we'll have lots of Monarchs fluttering around.

I know God gave us this cool experience for us this morning.  He gives us these moments/experiences that are just for us...something He knows will marvel us...something to give us a great big smile...something to show His power or creation.  It also reminded me of 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!  I am like that caterpillar before following Jesus; just doing my own thing, my own way, focusing on myself and no one else.  But then God steps in, I get all wrapped up in that chrysalis and then emerge like the beautiful butterfly; a totally new creation, a new life!  Thank you Jesus!

Just wanted to share our fun and amazing experience God gave us this morning :)

Green Dinosaur

If you know our Bethany, then you know she is a fan of green dinosaurs.  I don't know where or how she picked up on this.  She talks about when she grows up she is going to be a big green dinosaur.  Ha!  Kids, I tell you!

Well, a while ago there was a deal (one of those Groupon-coupon kind-of websites) that had a green dinosaur cookie kit for sale.  I had to grab it for our Bethany!  Where else can I find something like that?  It was made for her! ;)

The kids ask me every evening, after dinner, if we have dessert.  Well, I don't make or have dessert for us often.  It's more for a special occasion or if we haven't had dessert in a while (so a special treat) or if this Mama has the itch and just HAS TO bake ;)  Well, since it's been a while, I think we are going to have dessert this evening.  What is it, you ask?  Yup, you guessed it.  Green dinosaur cookies :D
The kids talked about and talked about making these cookies these last few days.  All day today, all the girls could talk about was "once we get out of school, go pick up Jared from his school, we get to come home and make green dinosaur cookies?"  Squeals were heard everywhere when I replied with "yes" ;D

Here are a few pictures of the kids baking.  Oh!  They did all of the work!...rolling out the dough, using the cookie cutters, frosting and decorating them (and eating them too ;) ).  All I did was move the cookies from counter to cookie sheet, put them in the oven, take them out of the oven and move them from cookie sheet to plate.  They had a BLAST baking some green dinosaurs! :)

Suzan, Brielle, Bethany, Anna and Jared set up for some cookie baking.  Here, rolling/patting out the dough.
The kids' cookies
The cookies Mama did.  Okay, Mom and Dad did get to enjoy a green dinosaur or two ;)
The kids trying to watch the cookies bake
Finally, they are baked and cooled.  Here, Jared frosting his.  Yes, the cookie kit even came with green frosting!
Anna frosting
Bethany frosting
Brielle frosting
And Suzan frosting
Sprinkling on some orange-colored sugar (also came in the cookie kit)
You can't have too much sugar or sprinkles!...let alone frosting ;)
All done!  5 proud cookie bakers!  Bethany
Anna
Jared
Suzan
And Brielle
They were also so good and patient to wait and eat these for dessert after dinner!  They did have to come by and look at their cookies every now and then - Ha! ;)

Thankfully, the kit came with the dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters so that means we always have the chance to mix up our own green cookie dough and frosting and make some more green dinosaur cookies...for another dessert after dinner treat :D

The Girls Take Ballet!

Thanks to our good friends, the Murphys, we got a referral to a ballet class here in town. It is a Christian Ballet Studio taught by a group of sisters whom have all been ballerinas for years. The studio is based on Romans 10:15 in the Bible - And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” - and has the goal of teaching its students how to worship the Lord through dance. The girls are SUPER SUPER excited to take ballet and have been talking about it non stop since we enrolled them for it - Ha! :)

Suzan, Anna, Bethany and Brielle ready for their first day of ballet :) They go for 1 hour a week.

Not too sure what the class was doing here. All of the students got to wear the tiaras and then had to glide across the room.  Here, Bethany, Brielle and Anna.
Suzan, getting instruction
After class, all students got a treat - Smarties!
The girls LOVED their first day, have been dancing ever since and can't wait to go back next week! :)

Celebrating Our Friends' Adoption! Yay! :D

Our friends have been foster parents for the last few years. In March 2011 they started fostering a newborn. Since that time they felt God telling them to adopt their baby boy. Thankfully, after a long journey, God gave their baby boy to them! Yay! Today, we got to celebrate with them in this very momentous occasion. They invited us to go roller skating and then enjoy some lunch. Our kids (and Mom ;) ) had a blast skating...the first time for the girls and Jared!

We praise God for how good and faithful He is! We pray for our friends and their baby boy as they are all one family!

Jared. He did a GREAT JOB skating! He barely fell at all! I think he would've skated all day if we let him - Ha! ;)

What cute centerpieces my friend made! The party theme was the alphabet..."a is for adoption, p is for popcorn, c is for cheese pizza, etc., etc." She made these out of an old, wooden pallet and then grew the grass herself. She said it was super easy and cheap to make!  She even made the cutest banner of pictures of their baby boy and each letter of the alphabet, like "D is for da-da" and then a picture of their baby and Dad or "Z is for zoo" and a picture of their baby at the zoo. Cute! She's so creative!
After a lunch of pizza, popcorn, veggies and dip and juice boxes, our friends had snow cones for everyone. Needless to say, our kids LOVED them! Here, Brielle

Jared
Bethany, with a "thumbs up" ;D
And Suzan, not wanting to stop and smile for me ;)
Ryan, Suzan and Baby Boy, thank you SO much for your friendship, for allowing us to care for you, to pray for you through your fostering and adoption journey and now praying for you as dad, mom and son! Thank you for the fun today, that we could joyfully celebrate this occasion with you! We love you guys!
