A Decade!

So, did you figure out what BIG thing was happening for us this week? What was "X"tra special (get it? X = Roman numeral 10 :) )? We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! Yay! Wow, how can it be a decade already?! It feels like it's only been 5 years or so!

Us 10 years ago! Awe! :D

We praise God for how he brought us together (TOTALLY a God-thing!). We praise Him for being the center of our lives and marriage! We praise Him for all of the celebrations we've been able to enjoy, e.g. anniversaries, kids' births, and also for the trials we've faced together. We praise God for our unity, our bond, our commitment to and support of one another, our friendship and our love for one another and Jesus.

We pray for God's continued love, strength, patience and joy in our marriage. We pray for each of us to continue to support and build up one another, in words and actions. Ultimately, we pray that we would continue to seek Christ and His will for us and put Him at the center of our lives and marriage and, in that, that we would be a better loving and supportive husband and wife!

Here are some of my favorite verses on marriage and husbands and wives.

1 Peter 3:1-7
Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Ephesians 5: 22-33
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

And some verses I have to remind myself of :P

Proverbs 12:4
A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

Proverbs 27:15
A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day.

Proverbs 21:9
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 31 is full of what a noble wife looks like. Here's what I like best from the scripture.
v11 - Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
v12 - She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
v26 - She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
v 28 & 29 - Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."

More Sand, Sun, Slide and Swing Time!

Yes, the girlies and I ventured outdoors this morning and enjoyed lots of play time at our neighborhood park. They love that place! Plus, our weather is GORGEOUS this time of year so I figured we might as well get in some outdoor play time while we can. I'm glad we did. The girlies had fun having some more sand, sun, slide and swing time at the park. They also played with some neighborhood friends, a set of BG twins and a little boy with his dad. Enjoy the pics!

It was fun to see the girls play and share with him and his sister. Plus, I loved hearing him, his sister and his family members speak Serbian. A very beautiful language!
