Is this normal?

Is it normal for a baby to eat 3/4 of a jar of baby food at one meal? Or even 1 entire jar? That's what happened with our girls at lunch today. Suzan ate 1/2 a jar, Bethany and Brielle 3/4 of a jar and Anna? Anna ate an entire jar of green beans! Girls, that's a lot of food! They also ate their 5+oz of breastmilk on top of that.

Is this normal? Is it a growth spurt? Is it that we just need to feed them meat and potatoes from here on out ;) ? In any case, if they keep this up they are going to eat us out of house and home!

Hello there! I just came across your blog from the Tubre quads blog. Your kids are beautiful. I have a six month old daughter as well, and I was wondering how you got your girls to eat so well? My daughter cries as soon as I put anything besides me in her mouth. Also congrats on how big they are, my little one is only 12lbs, I feel like I am doing something wrong

:)

Ours will pound down a 7 oz bottle and follow it up with a 6 oz jar of food, so sorry to say, it gets worse :)

have a great day!

Maybe they are enjoying the new flavors a lot right now, and that's why they are eating a lot? But they could be gearing up to grow a lot too. Evelyn had a fair amount of baby fat in reserve, so I don't know if she has eaten big amounts like that. She will eat cheerios or rice chex all day long, though. Now she does not really want to eat if I feed her from the spoon. She wants to eat big people food and wants to pick it up herself. Will you guys use suction cup plates or something on your table?

I have no ideaif that is "normal"...none of my girls weighed 17 pounds at 6 months. Actually, none of them weighed 17 pounds at one year! ;o) Better save up those baby food coupons.

you're in for it...just so you know. that was a very normal occurance for us. Ours were and still are ravenous eaters:) very healthy eaters. Don't worry or compare them to others....just go with your gut feeling! that is one of the biggest things i've learned from having multiples...we know our kids better than ANYONE else. they will let you know when they don't want more.
Good luck! it gets messier but so much more fun!!

I know my kids will sometimes eat a lot at a time for a while, and then not much. I think it's pretty normal and they probably are going through a growth spurt. Good luck with that!

Seriously, girl....check out the Schirano Triplets blog on multiples freebies. If nothing else, send in copies of the birth certificates with a short letter to Gerber. We did and they sent us 44 coupons for 12 free 2-packs of baby food! That's like over $600 worth of baby food. They also sent engraved silver baby spoons and 4 packs of onesies and lots of other coupons. Well worth it!

We go through TONS of food (they each usually eat 1.5-2 tubs of food 2-3 times per day, plus 3-4 bottles. We're trying to transition down to 3 bottles and 3 feeds a day now). We use Gerber and I also make some of their food. We have some little horses on our hands.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Love from KS,
Moni
