Teeth or growth spurt

Either Bethany is cutting some teeth or going through a growth spurt. All day today (which one day can't be an indicator of anything specific) she has been waking up from her naps crying uncontrollably. It is SO not like her. Paul and I tried everything...holding her, changing her, bouncing her, shushing her, taking off her helmet (thinking maybe her helmet was giving her pain), feeding her and then swinging her, which finally calmed her down. Really weird. But then when she did eat, she ate 7 ounces! Oh my! So, it could be teeth (I think Jared cut his first tooth at 5 or 5.5 months old) or it could just be a growth spurt. In any case, the poor little (er, big - 16lbs!) girl has had a difficult day. Let's pray tomorrow is better!

Evelyn got her first tooth at 4 months and now has 6 of them at 8 months. She would definitely be cranky some days. But it was mainly a few days of bad cranks. Have you checked lower gums for puffiness? Although it seems a kid does not like to hold still for checking. Any extra drool? Evelyn drooled a small amount. I don't think Kezia drooled at all.

Good luck! Those cranky days are so tiring. Those are the nights I'm reaching for a Mike's Hard Lemonade or some kind of treat.

Love,
mary
