This afternoon I got to nurse some of the girls for the first time. Yay! First, I nursed Anna. I was worried at first, not ever nursing a preemie, but it went really well. It took a few times to get her to latch on but then she got it and started to eat. Yay! I'm so proud of her! Then, a few hours later I nursed her sister, Bethany. Bethany latched on right away and ate well too. Yay Yay!! The Lactation Specialist said "did you give birth to naturally-born breastfeeders?" Ha! She was so impressed by how well Anna and Bethany latched on and ate. Paul and I are impressed too ;)

Monday, I hope to try to feed both of them simultaneously. Wish me luck ;)

You guys are great. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you while I was in town! I figured you probably had your hands full with four two-week-old preemies. We'll get to see the girls the next time we come, hopefully!

What a miracle if all four would be good nursing babies for Maria! Again, I remember Westlies's Aunt Nana with her twins, back in the early days she would stick a baby body under each arm and would hold a little head like a football and it would be nursing time. It was a scheduled time. The babies soon learned when it was dinner time, eat, and fooling around meant you missed out. These Norske babies soon learned food is on the mother and to "sit down and eat!" In a perfect world if you could alternate a set of babies each time, they would be sooo glad to get that even! The mother's milk would be such a boost to keeping them healthy and soooo cute! Love Grandma Carlson

Wowee! Nursing already, and doing well?! And coming home this week? Crazy! It is amazing how well everyone is doing for quads. Single babies have more trouble than this! I guess you and God know how to grow 'em.

love, mary
